Invitation to Gwangjin-gu '2024 Migaro Food Culture Festival'

Free Tasting Event with 20 Popular Restaurants Held on the 6th at Guui-dong Food Alley

Gwangjin-gu (District Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will hold the ‘2024 Migaro Food Culture Festival’ on September 6th at the Guui-dong Food Alley, offering a variety of delicious foods.


Organized by the Migaro Commercial Association (President Kwak Chang-sik), this festival will feature a free tasting event with popular restaurants in the commercial area. Visitors can enjoy signature dishes from 20 restaurants including Korean, Chinese, Japanese, and fusion cuisines.


Before the opening, a spectacular stage performance will take place starting at 4 PM. B-boying, juggling, soap bubbles, and cocktail shows will captivate the audience. After the opening ceremony, visitors can experience balloon art and magic shows on the central stage. Performances by popera singers, harmonica players, and invited singers will also entertain both the eyes and ears.


As a side event, a ‘Sandwich Making’ session will be held. Participants can prepare healthy low-sugar food using chicken breast and carrot salad. On the day of the event, 36 interested residents will be recruited on a first-come, first-served basis.

Additionally, a consultation booth will be set up to provide information on food poisoning and chronic disease prevention. Visitors can learn about proper food intake and nutritious diets, receive smoking cessation counseling, and undergo alcohol risk constitution tests.


Moreover, a lunchbox sharing event will be conducted for 30 low-income elderly living alone, adding meaningfulness to the festival.


Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “In September, when the romance of autumn approaches, I hope everyone enjoys the Migaro Festival filled with delicious food and exciting attractions. We will spare no support to help the Migaro commercial area become a hygienic, pleasant, and distinctive local landmark.”


‘Migaro (Jayang-ro 18-gil 26)’ is a representative food street in Gwangjin-gu with over 175 restaurants. It is conveniently located near Guui Station on Line 2, bustling with people of various ages due to its accessibility and abundance of popular eateries.
