"Tragic"... Outpouring of Condolences for Private Kubo Who Collapsed During Training and Passed Away

Military personnel and netizens expressed their condolences over the death of Private A, who collapsed and died during a running exercise.

On the 31st, the Facebook page of the military-related community "Delivering News from the Army Training Center" received numerous comments saying "Rest in peace" on the post reporting the accident. One netizen wrote, "Truly a sad Republic of Korea," offering condolences, and mentioned recent trainee deaths, saying, "It is heartbreaking that such things happen to sons who have been enlisted for only 2 or 3 months."

Others commented, "Mothers who send their sons to the military feel their hearts drop when they hear such news," and "This is why I wouldn't send my precious child to the military," expressing concern with remarks like, "How will the soldier's parents and siblings bear this grief?"

One netizen urged, "We should treat and respect the soldiers who risk their lives to protect the country well," adding, "Thanks to them, we can sleep soundly with our legs stretched out." Some netizens raised issues about military physical fitness, questioning, "Are they even allowed to run?"

Earlier, around 8 a.m. on the 30th, Private A collapsed after losing consciousness during a morning run at an army unit in Paju, Gyeonggi Province. Private A was transported to a hospital by the dispatched 119 emergency medical team but ultimately passed away. The unit reportedly conducted group running exercises in the morning to avoid the daytime heat, following the hot weather regulations. The military police are investigating the exact cause of the accident.
