South Korean golf equipment was spotted at the Pyongyang Golf Course in North Korea. It appears that the equipment, donated by a domestic golf equipment company in 2007 to promote inter-Korean civilian exchanges, is still in use.

On the 29th, Radio Free Asia (RFA) reported that a Russian woman living in North Korea named ‘Victoria’ posted videos taken at the Pyongyang Golf Course on various social networking services (SNS) such as Instagram, Telegram, and the Russian video-sharing platform ‘Rutube’ between the 17th and 26th.
In the videos, Victoria receives posture coaching from a North Korean caddie at the Pyongyang Golf Course using South Korean golf equipment and tours the inside of the clubhouse. She also rode a golf cart around the field. The golf cart used during the round carried a golf bag with the words ‘Lance Field’ written on it. Lance Field is a South Korean golf equipment company.
RFA estimated that this golf bag was delivered to North Korea by Lance Field in May 2007. The company visited North Korea during the ‘2007 Pyongyang-Nampo Unification Bicycle Race,’ organized to promote inter-Korean civilian exchanges, and donated 30 sets of golf clubs to the Pyongyang Golf Course. The golf clubs spotted in Victoria’s posts are the same model.
The company’s equipment was also confirmed in North Korea in October 2015. Players participating in the 5th Pyongyang International Amateur Golf Tournament used Lance Field’s golf clubs and bags. At that time, the tournament organizer’s representative directly told RFA, “The golf clubs lent free of charge by North Korea were Korean-made Lance Field products.”
Victoria is an influencer with 80,000 followers on SNS. She studied advertising and public relations at Moscow State University in Russia and has reportedly been living in North Korea since November last year. In January, she also posted a video on SNS of herself skiing at the Masikryong Ski Resort in Wonsan, Kangwon Province, North Korea. Masikryong Ski Resort is a tourist attraction North Korea prides itself on. It was opened in 2013 as a key project promoted by Chairman Kim Jong-un, who studied in Switzerland during his childhood, but operations have been virtually suspended due to COVID-19. Netizens who saw the video raised suspicions that Victoria might be employed in North Korea to promote the Masikryong Ski Resort.
