40-Year Resident Wish Project, Transforming Dust and Noise Emitting Gwangwoon University Station Logistics Site into a Premium Residential Complex
Structure and Excavation Review Completed, Groundbreaking Scheduled for November This Year
Nowon-gu, Seoul (Mayor Oh Seung-rok) announced on the 28th that the housing construction project plan for the complex site in the Gwangwoon University Station area development project has been approved.
With the approval of this project plan, the complex site will see the realization of a premium residential complex featuring 8 buildings, up to 49 floors, and 3,032 households, along with street-type commercial facilities. Following this, after the Seoul City excavation and structural safety review in September, construction is scheduled to begin in November this year.
The Gwangwoon University Station area development project is a 40-year-long wish of the residents of Wolgye-dong. It is a complex development project transforming an old logistics site that caused dust and noise into a premium residential complex up to 49 floors high, along with creating a new economic hub in the northeastern area capable of generating jobs.
The project site is divided into ▲public land ▲commercial and business land ▲complex land for development. On the public land, convenience facilities for local residents will be established, including a lifestyle cultural hub library with various themes, a youth career center supporting startups of young people from seven local universities, and a cultural and sports center accessible to all age groups.
The commercial and business land will consist of two buildings housing hotels, offices, and commercial facilities. With Hyundai Development Company’s headquarters scheduled to relocate there, the district expects the Gwangwoon University Station area to become a new economic center alongside job creation.
Oh Seung-rok, Mayor of Nowon-gu, stated, "The approval of the housing construction project plan for the complex site marks the beginning of the Gwangwoon University Station area development project, a 40-year wish of the residents, which is highly significant. We will do our best to proceed smoothly with the remaining procedures to promote regional development and improve the quality of life for residents."
