34 Night Markets with Various Food Options Also Unfold
The September Donghaeng Festival will collaborate with local festivals and traditional markets to help revitalize the regional economy.
The Ministry of SMEs and Startups announced on the 30th that an excellent small and medium-sized enterprise (SME) and small business product sales exhibition will be held for a month alongside 46 local events nationwide. The September Donghaeng Festival will run until the 28th of next month.
Representative local events include the Cheonggye Plaza traditional market sales exhibition held in Seoul from the 9th to the 11th of next month, the Gangwon Wonju Culture Street Chimaek Festival from the 4th to the 7th, the Gyeongbuk Mungyeong Omija Festival from the 13th to the 15th, and the Daejeon Bread Festival on the 28th and 29th. Additionally, in Jeonbuk, the Muju Firefly Festival will take place from the 31st of this month to the 8th of next month; in Gwangju, the 1913 Songjeong Station Market Autumn Beer Festival will be held on the 7th of next month; and in Gyeongnam, the Jinhae Naval Port Commercial District Donghaeng Festival Promotion Exhibition will be held on the 27th and 28th of next month.
During the Donghaeng Festival period, 34 night markets will be held in local traditional markets where visitors can experience various foods, cultural performances, and hands-on events.
On this day, Kim Seong-seop, Vice Minister of the Ministry of SMEs and Startups, visited the ‘Ulsan Specialized Market Festa,’ a sales exhibition for small and medium-sized businesses in Ulsan held at the Taehwagang Sports Park area. He personally purchased representative products and encouraged small business owners and related personnel. An opening ceremony wishing for the successful hosting of the event was also held. The Ulsan Specialized Market Festa, held for the first time this year, runs for three days from today until the 1st, with 21 local specialized markets participating to promote specialized projects and conduct discounted product sales.
In addition to Ulsan, specialized markets in the Busan area are also participating in this sales exhibition, with a total of about 60 companies offering various products at discounts of more than 30% compared to usual prices. Night markets, food stalls, free Makgeolli tastings, and talent shows are also prepared.

Vice Minister Kim said, “If you enjoy local festivals across the country and purchase good products at traditional markets during the Donghaeng Festival period, it will be a great gift to local SMEs and small business owners who are struggling due to the economic downturn.”
