Three Books Including 'Taegu Is Curious About Neighbors' Offered to Children Living in Gijang-gun Until November 30
Gijang-gun (Governor Jung Jongbok) will hold the "2024 Gijang-gun Book of the Year Book Report Contest" for children residing in Gijang-gun from September 1 to November 30.
Now in its seventh year, this contest is part of the "Gijang, Meeting Children's Books: One City, One Book" campaign, a community reading movement where the local community reads and participates together in one book.
The contest books are the three titles selected as Gijang-gun's 2024 Book of the Year: "Taegu Is Curious About the Neighbors," which was chosen as the final selection, and the finalists "The Ghost Bride of Moonlight Elementary School" and "The Walking Club at Thirteen."
Children wishing to participate can read one of the designated books and write a book report (at least five manuscript pages or one A4 page), then submit it along with the application form downloaded from the Jeonggwan Library website.
Applications can be submitted via the website, email, mail, or in person until November 30. For more details about the book report contest, please refer to the Jeonggwan Library website or contact the Gijang-gun Library or Jeonggwan Library team.
In the future, the county will select winners through a panel of literary experts, awarding 12 Gijang-gun Governor’s Prizes (2 grand prizes, 4 excellence awards, and 6 encouragement prizes) and 3 Busan Metropolitan City Superintendent of Education Prizes. The results will be announced on the library website in December, and winners will be notified individually.
Jung Jongbok, Governor of Gijang-gun, said, "We will strive to make Gijang a city of reading by preparing a variety of reading culture events that residents can participate in."
"Gijang-gun Book of the Year" is the representative reading culture promotion campaign of Gijang-gun Public Library. It was launched to foster a reading culture and create a sense of community by having residents directly select the book, and this is its seventh year.
In April, residents participated in online and offline voting for the three candidate books, and in May, "Taegu Is Curious About the Neighbors" by author Lee Seonju was finally selected. Various reading culture events are being held with the selected book, including ▲Meet the Author ▲Book Report Contest ▲Related Institution Competitions ▲Special Lectures Linked to the Book of the Year.
