A netizen shared a shocking story about finding nearly 10 kimchi cores in a kimchi stew ordered at a rest area restaurant.
On the 26th, an online community called 'Bobae Dream' featured a post titled 'I ate kimchi stew at a rest area.' The author, Mr. A, who recently visited a rest area, felt something was off while eating the kimchi stew ordered at the restaurant inside the rest area. He noticed an unusually large amount of kimchi core parts in the stew.
Eventually, Mr. A stopped eating and started digging through the stew, discovering about 10 kimchi cores inside. He expressed his anger, saying, "I even ate a few of them. When I left, I told them, 'Don’t mess around with the food,' but thinking about it now makes me even more upset." He also lamented, "Where should I file a complaint about (rest area food)? Is it handled by the Korea Expressway Corporation?"
Netizens who read the story responded with various comments such as, "At this point, it’s not kimchi stew but core stew," "Isn’t that part usually discarded?" "One or two might be okay, but ten is too much," "Maybe they collected just the roots separately. That’s funny too," "I’ll just use the restroom at rest areas from now on," "Didn’t anyone notice something was wrong when serving this?" and "If it were me, I would have asked for a refund."
Meanwhile, this is not the first time kimchi stew at a rest area restaurant has caused controversy. In May, an online community post titled 'I ate meat-flavored kimchi stew' included a photo of kimchi stew filled with chunks of fat. The author wrote, "I don’t know how they can charge money after serving food like this," and "I just left because of work, but I’m so angry from the morning." Netizens who saw the photo reacted with anger, commenting, "Isn’t that rice cake?" and "What’s going on with rest areas these days?"
