Ex-Lover Mr. B "Dating with Marriage Intent"
"Supported with Over 100 Million Won in Cards and Cash Combined"
Soccer Player Mr. A Claims "Money Originated from Dating Relationship"
Former soccer player Mr. A is involved in a legal dispute with his ex-girlfriend.
Mr. A has been sued for fraud by Ms. B, who is known to be his former partner. Ms. B claimed that she dated Mr. A for two years from 2020 to 2022 with the intention of marriage. She stated that during their relationship, Mr. A received financial support from her for various reasons such as personal debts, living expenses, loans, training funds, medical bills, congratulatory and condolence money, and certification course fees, but did not repay the money.
In an interview with a media outlet, Ms. B said, "Mr. A borrowed money multiple times citing financial difficulties and the need to maintain his athletic career, and used a credit card registered under my name." She added, "The total amount Mr. A used, combining card and cash, exceeds 100 million won. The amount I can prove is over 70 million won." She explained that Mr. A did not repay the money, making false promises such as "I did not receive my salary on time due to the team's situation" and "I will repay the borrowed money once I join a famous professional team and receive a signing bonus."
Ms. B also said, "I repaid money borrowed from a famous player on behalf of Mr. A, who had promised to marry me, and bought gifts to send to officials hoping for a successful contract renewal with his team." She continued, "Later, when I checked the details, I found out he spent money on gifts and dates with other women." She added, "He said he would write and notarize an IOU, and we arranged to meet, but he did not show up. When we met later, he fled without listening to me and before even writing the amount on the IOU."
In response, Mr. A denied the allegations, stating, "The amount Ms. B lent me was actually about 10 to 20 million won," and "I promised to repay it and have already repaid about 4 million won." He explained, "I never borrowed 100 million won from Ms. B, and amounts other than what I mentioned were cleared with a police investigation ruling no charges." He added, "The expenses were not one-sided loans but recognized as expenditures arising from our dating relationship." Currently, Ms. B is preparing to appeal the police's no-charge decision. Additionally, she plans to file a civil lawsuit accusing Mr. A of identity theft for using her credit card without permission.
Meanwhile, Mr. A played in a European league while attending university and later returned to Korea to play in the K League. It has been confirmed that he is currently retired and running a soccer academy.
