Prevention of Second Time Fraud and Abolition of Financial Transaction Tax... Ruling Party Selects 170 Top Priority Legislations

Legislation to Address Medical Blind Spots Scheduled for Proposal
Includes Solutions for Deepfake and Digital Sex Crime Issues

The People Power Party has selected 170 bills across six major areas as top legislative priorities in preparation for the regular National Assembly session in September, focusing on preventing a recurrence of the T-mep (Timon·Wemakeprice) incident and abolishing the financial investment income tax (FIIT).

The People Power Party Policy Committee announced that it has designated 170 bills in six key areas?revitalizing the livelihood economy, overcoming low birth rates, medical reform, discovering future growth engines, balanced regional development, and public safety?as the "Korea Change-Up" bills, making them the top legislative and passage priorities for the regular National Assembly session.

In the area of revitalizing the livelihood economy, the bills include laws related to protecting small business owners and consumers by preventing a recurrence of the T-mep (Timon·Wemakeprice) incident, laws to prevent illegal short selling, various tax law amendments including the abolition of FIIT, and the repeal of the Mobile Device Distribution Structure Improvement Act (DanTong Act).

To overcome low birth rates, the party plans to promote bills such as establishing a Population Strategy Planning Department, extending parental leave, expanding the eligible age range, and reducing working hours during pregnancy, aiming to help resolve low birth rate and population issues based on work-family balance.

Regarding medical reform, the party intends to address bills that provide institutional support such as fostering essential regional medical services and special support for medical accidents, ensuring that citizens living in rural areas are not left in medical blind spots.

Through legislation related to strengthening industrial competitiveness in sectors such as artificial intelligence (AI), nuclear power, semiconductors, and power grid construction, as well as expanding support for various advanced industrial infrastructures, the party plans to contribute to discovering future growth engines.

In the area of balanced regional development, the bills include measures to address issues in population-declining areas and to alleviate concentration in the metropolitan area.

For public safety, the party will promote bills addressing digital sex crimes such as deepfake sexual offenses, enhancing the treatment of uniformed public officials and general public officials who died in the line of duty during disaster support, improving the treatment of military personnel and reservists, and responding to climate crises and disasters.

The People Power Party Policy Committee stated, "To become a 'livelihood party' that resonates with the people and a 'competent policy party' recognized by the public, we will do our utmost to ensure that the 'Korea Change-Up' bills are legislated and passed as top priorities in the 2024 regular National Assembly session."
