Busan Urban Corporation Launches 'Bandi Safety Cafe' to Create an Emotional Work Environment

Operation at Construction Sites Including Eco Public Sale Housing

Placement of Beverages and Safety Supplies to Prevent Accidents

Busan Metropolitan Corporation (BMC) has been installing and operating the 'Bandi Safety Cafe' at its ongoing housing construction sites since the 14th.

The 'Bandi Safety Cafe' is part of BMC's key initiative to create an 'emotional work environment in the BMC style.' It is currently being operated at a total of five sites, including Eco 18, 19, and 20BL public sale housing, Happy Housing in front of City Hall, and Ilgwang District 4BL integrated public rental housing.

The Bandi Safety Cafe, which is regularly used by more than 2,400 on-site workers, provides snacks such as beverages and ice cream to prevent heat-related illnesses during the ongoing heatwave, as well as safety construction booklets and hand sanitizers to prevent various infectious diseases.

In particular, the safety construction booklets have been produced in multiple languages, including English, Chinese, and Uzbek, to reflect the increasing proportion of foreign workers at construction sites.

One worker who visited the cafe said, "Thanks to the snacks provided at the Bandi Safety Cafe, I was able to enjoy a brief respite from the relentless heat, and the booklets available there gave me an opportunity to reflect once again on safety. I will do my best to ensure the completion of high-quality housing with a focus on safety."

Kim Yonghak, President of Busan Metropolitan Corporation, said, "I am pleased that the operation of the Bandi Safety Cafe has provided a resting space for workers during the hot weather," and added, "BMC will do its utmost to enhance workers' fundamental rights and prevent safety accidents through various safety culture activities aimed at creating an emotional work environment."
