Dividing Response into Prevention and On-site Measures... Comprehensive Survey of Air Mats
70m High Ladder Truck Deployed at Dongbu Fire Station... Strengthening Safety Education
Daejeon Fire Headquarters recently announced that it will implement fire safety measures to proactively respond to the increasing number of electric vehicle and accommodation facility fires occurring nationwide.
The Fire Headquarters completed a discussion session on response strategies for electric vehicle and accommodation facility fires on the 26th, air mat training on the 27th, and an on-site visit to apartment electric vehicle charging facilities on the 28th. Based on these activities, they plan to establish a response system divided into fire prevention and on-site response sectors.
In the prevention sector, fire safety inspections will be conducted on accommodation facilities with high fire risk, focusing on checking for blocked fire safety equipment and obstacles to evacuation and fire protection facilities.
Additionally, for small-scale accommodation facilities such as inns and guesthouses, basic fire safety equipment like extinguishers and detectors will be checked and inspected. Fire safety consulting will also be provided, including recommendations to prohibit cooking and smoking in rooms, guidance on indicating the location and usage of emergency escape devices, and, if necessary, the distribution of fire extinguishers and standalone alarm detectors.
In particular, as the importance of safe evacuation and evacuation equipment during fires is emphasized, hands-on training and education on the use of emergency escape devices and evacuation procedures will be strengthened.
In the on-site response sector, an emergency inspection and training for all 55 air mats currently in possession will be conducted by September 6.
In addition, by the end of the year, a 70-meter high aerial ladder truck will be deployed at the Dongbu Fire Station to enhance high-rise building response, and battery-penetrating fire suppression equipment, which can reduce suppression time for electric vehicle fires, will be additionally introduced alongside existing fire suppression equipment.
Kang Daehoon, head of Daejeon Fire Headquarters, stated, "Through these fire safety measures, we will strengthen fire prevention activities for accommodation facilities and do our utmost to prevent and respond to disaster accidents by introducing and training with advanced firefighting equipment."
