Special Crackdown Until March 31 Next Year... School Police Officers to Provide Crime Prevention Education

The Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency announced that it has formed a special investigation team within the Cyber Investigation Unit to conduct intensive crackdowns in order to eradicate the rapidly increasing deepfake sex crimes.
The Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency has organized two special investigation teams, one monitoring team, and a group of 25 personnel including digital forensics, victim protection, and support teams to conduct intensive crackdowns on deepfake sex crimes for seven months until March 31 next year.
In addition, in cooperation with the Daejeon Autonomous Police Committee, all 31 school police officers have been mobilized to visit 151 middle and high schools in Daejeon from August 28 to September 6 to provide special crime prevention education. They are promoting understanding and seriousness of digital sex crimes such as deepfakes, punishment regulations for such crimes, and response guidelines in case of victimization, as well as conducting crime prevention education.
In parallel, the Women and Youth Division has produced its own digital sex crime prevention card news, which is being quickly distributed online and offline, such as through class group chat rooms, in cooperation with the Daejeon Office of Education. Efforts are also being strengthened to gather intelligence on cases of digital crimes such as deepfakes and on those who produce and distribute such materials.
Hwang Changsun, Commissioner of the Daejeon Metropolitan Police Agency, said, "The misuse of deepfake technology is a serious crime that goes beyond a simple invasion of privacy," and added, "We will do our utmost to eradicate crimes involving fake videos by conducting swift investigations and continuing crime prevention education for youth."
