Gangseo-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon) was selected as an excellent institution by ranking first among 25 autonomous districts in Seoul in the 2024 National Safety Education Status Inspection Evaluation.

The 'National Safety Education Status Inspection Evaluation' is conducted annually by the Ministry of the Interior and Safety to assess the implementation status of safety education policies in institutions and to share best practices.

Based on the evaluation indicators of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Seoul formed its own inspection team composed of private experts to evaluate the performance of 25 autonomous districts and selected eight outstanding districts.

The evaluation was conducted on 21 indicators across five areas. In this evaluation, the district achieved uniformly high scores in five areas: ▲Safety Education Implementation Performance ▲Safety Education Infrastructure Development ▲Interest in Safety Education Culture ▲Establishment of Safety Education Cultural Cooperation System ▲Interviews with Institution Managers and Best Practices, securing first place.

In particular, conducting life safety education and experiential education for residents was effective. To provide safety education that residents can feel directly, the district has continuously strengthened life safety education that enables response in emergencies, such as self-defense training, suicide prevention, food safety, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) education. Through this, the number of trainees increased by 160% compared to the previous year, reaching a total of approximately 79,000.

Additionally, the district expanded experiential safety education such as visiting children's safety education, hosting the Gangseo Disaster Safety Experience Expo, promoting the construction of the Magok Safety Experience Center, and traffic safety and bicycle safety experiential education.

District Mayor Jin Gyo-hoon said, “This selection as an excellent institution in national safety education is thanks to the high safety awareness and educational participation of our residents,” and added, “Since the safety of residents is always the top priority, we will continue to do our best to make Gangseo a safe place in everyday life.”
