Samsung D-LGD, Head-to-Head Battle to Strengthen OLED Technology Expertise
Samsung Display and LG Display are strengthening their organic light-emitting diode (OLED) technology capabilities.
LG Display announced on the 29th that it will begin full-scale mass production of a 27-inch 480Hz QHD gaming OLED panel, which achieves the highest refresh rate and fastest response time among existing OLEDs. This move aims to actively supply panels in response to the rapidly increasing demand for gaming displays.

For gaming displays, the most important specifications are the refresh rate, which is the number of images shown per second, and the response time, which is the time it takes for the graphics card signal to be displayed on the screen.
This product offers an overwhelming gaming experience with LG Display’s OLED unique vivid image quality where each pixel emits light without a backlight, an ultra-high refresh rate of 480Hz, an industry-leading response time of 0.02ms (1ms is one-thousandth of a second), and QHD (2560x1440) resolution. LG Display is the only company to achieve 480Hz among gaming OLEDs.
On the same day, Samsung Display announced that a monitor applying QD-OLED technology was selected for a premium studio operated by 'Finish Line,' a post-production specialist company located in London, UK.
Finish Line adopted the QD-OLED reference monitor 'XMP550' from FSI (Flanders Scientific Inc.), a global broadcast equipment market company, which is equipped with Samsung Display’s 55-inch QD-OLED. This product is known to be highly recognized by film and broadcasting professionals for its excellent performance in 'Color Grading' work, which involves editing the color tone of videos. In fact, the 'XMP550' has won awards from the Hollywood Professional Association (HPA) and CINE Gear.
