Dobong-gu to Host Specialized Shopping Street Festivals in October and November... Two Locations: Ssangridan-gil Shopping Street and Changdong Station Shopping Street
Dobong-gu (Mayor Oh Eon-seok) will hold various festivals this fall, including the ‘Ssangridan-gil Starlight Night Market.’
The district announced that two locations, Changdong Station Shopping District and Ssangridan-gil Shopping District, were selected in the additional public contest for Seoul’s ‘Nighttime and Food Culture Revitalization Support Project,’ securing a total project budget of 80 million KRW to host specialized shopping district festivals.
The ‘2024 Nighttime and Food Culture Revitalization Support Project,’ announced by Seoul City in July, aims to attract new customers such as domestic and international tourists and younger generations, thereby strengthening the self-sustainability and increasing sales of traditional markets and shopping districts.
Following this selection, the district plans to promote independent events tailored to each commercial area that align with nighttime and food culture revitalization, such as food festivals, nighttime festivals, and night markets.
First, in mid-October, a craft beer festival will be held around Changdong Station Shopping District (Exit 1 of Changdong Station). Various craft beers will be showcased at the festival.
Along with this, diverse events such as busking performances will take place.
Changdong Station Shopping District is a commercial area formed around Exit 1 of Changdong Station. It includes Seed Cube Changdong, the recently opened Seoul Robot Artificial Intelligence Science Museum, and is expected to develop into a central commercial area in northeastern Seoul through upcoming facilities such as the Seoul Photography Museum, Seoul Arena, and Changdong Station Complex Transfer Center.
In early November, the ‘Starlight Night Market’ will be held at Ssangridan-gil. The night market will feature various programs including ▲Starlight Night Market (flea market) ▲Starlight Performances on Autumn Nights ▲Starlight Experience Zone ▲Starlight Walk ▲Starlight Events.
Ssangridan-gil is a self-sustained alley commercial area near Exit 2 of Ssangmun Station, where emotional cafes and restaurants gather in a residential neighborhood.
Oh Eon-seok, Mayor of Dobong-gu, said, “We hope this festival will revitalize the local commercial districts and provide an opportunity for many people to feel the charm of Dobong-gu,” adding, “We will make it a festival that both residents and tourists can enjoy through various programs and events.”
