Korea Expressway Corporation announced on the 28th that it has signed an agreement with the Daeju Industrial Consortium (BGF Retail, KH Energy, Youngjin Construction) for the 'Private Investment Development Project of the Daeha Complex Rest Area Facility on the Jungbu Inland Expressway.'
Following the agreement, the Expressway Corporation and the consortium will discuss all aspects related to the project, including the project promotion method, project cost, project duration, and operation method for the development of the complex rest area facility. The opening is targeted for 2026.
The Daeha Complex Rest Area Facility is planned to be constructed as a regionally open rest stop at the 44 km mark from Naeseo on the Jungbu Inland Expressway, located in Daeha-myeon, Changnyeong-gun, Gyeongnam Province. It will be accessible via the two-way expressway and the Yeongnam Industrial Complex access road, which is a national highway.
Reflecting the characteristics of a route with a high volume of freight traffic, a premium lounge for truck drivers' rest and a safety education center capable of providing legally required training for transportation workers will be installed. Additionally, various convenience facilities and eco-friendly energy charging infrastructure will be shared with the local community, and products utilizing local agricultural produce will be developed and sold.
Jung Yeon-gwon, Head of the New Business Division at Korea Expressway Corporation, said, "With this agreement, we expect to alleviate customer inconvenience caused by the long intervals between rest areas on the Jungbu Inland Expressway and to revitalize the local economy through facility openness." He added, "We will do our best to ensure that the development and operation of the Daeha Rest Area proceed smoothly."
