Protection for High-Risk Youth from Unfair Dismissal and Harassment... Gwangjin-gu Provides Customized Welfare Services up to 300,000 KRW

Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) provides customized welfare services for high-risk youth in urgent need of support.

The target group includes youth facing sudden crisis situations such as unfair dismissal, business closure, disaster damage, illness, and domestic violence. The aim is to offer prompt assistance to those who find themselves in welfare blind spots due to unexpected reasons, helping them stabilize their lives. It also aims to prevent isolation and withdrawal among youth in advance.

Services worth up to 300,000 KRW per person are provided. This includes living essentials, groceries, utility bills, communication fees, monthly rent, and medical expenses. Legal or psychological counseling is also covered. Upon submission of relevant supporting documents, the costs for these services are reimbursed.

The selection of recipients goes through two stages. First, the Seoul Youth Center conducts a preliminary consultation with applicants. Based on the Ministry of Health and Welfare’s welfare blind spot discovery regulations, applicants who meet two or more of 40 crisis conditions are shortlisted for review. Final selection is made after evaluation by a public-private selection committee.

Applicants must be high-risk youth residing in Gwangjin-gu. Support is planned for about 20 individuals until the budget is exhausted. Youth in need of assistance can contact the Seoul Youth Center Gwangjin by phone.

Kim Kyung-ho, Mayor of Gwangjin-gu, said, “We hope this will help youth facing sudden crises quickly recover their daily lives and regain stability,” adding, “We will be a strong support so that even in difficult times, they do not lose their dreams and can become independent members of society.”
