The ‘AI Food Scanner’ is an artificial intelligence and big data-based system that takes photos of meal trays before and after eating to measure the amount of food consumed and its nutritional content, providing healthcare reports to parents.

The system is used together with the ‘NyamNyam Kids Program,’ which analyzes leftover food amounts and provides customized content.

This pilot project is expected to strengthen the connection between daycare centers and families for managing children’s healthy eating habits.

Daycare centers will use the AI Food Scanner to accumulate and manage data on children’s eating habits, while parents can check their child’s meal quantity and nutritional content included in each meal daily through healthcare reports sent by the system.

Additionally, the play-based educational method using the ‘NyamNyam Kids Program’ helps children perceive mealtime as a kind of playtime, which is expected to greatly assist in correcting picky eating habits.

Na Seong-ung, president of the Korea Childcare Promotion Institute, said, “Eating habits in early childhood affect not only growth and development during that period but also lifelong health. I congratulate Gwangyang City for launching the first AI Food Scanner pilot project in Gwangju and Jeonnam, and I hope it helps the children of Gwangyang grow up healthier.”

Kim Dae-hoon, CEO of Nubilab Co., Ltd., said, “Through the AI Food Scanner and NyamNyam Kids services, daycare centers and families can accurately understand and guide children’s eating habits. We will continue to develop various content to help children form healthy eating habits on their own.”

Mayor Jeong In-hwa stated, “Gwangyang City is the first in Gwangju and Jeonnam to support the AI Food Scanner NyamNyam Kids service for daycare centers, which is expected to help improve customized nutrition management for young children. We will do our best to build a specialized childcare environment unique to Gwangyang so that young people can settle in Gwangyang through childbirth and parenting and raise their children well.”
