This meeting was organized to promote excellent domestic performance content in China and to revitalize performance tourism between the two countries.
About 40 people attended the event, including representatives from Shanghai Cultural Square and Korean performance officials. Shanghai Cultural Square, established in 2011, is a Chinese state-owned enterprise that operates nationally owned performance venues. It currently holds the rights to use numerous Korean musicals.
Through the meeting, the organization plans to support the entry of Korean performances into China and conduct various collaborative projects such as jointly promoting outstanding performances from both countries. First, Chinese performance officials will attend the B2B consultation meeting of the performance tourism festival "Welcome Daehakro," held this October, to continue mutual exchanges.
The Chinese performance officials will stay in Korea until the 1st, visiting Daehakro, the mecca of performing arts, and watching the non-verbal performance "Painters" and the play "Beautiful Life."
Yoo Jin-ho, head of the Tourism Content Strategy Division at the Korea Tourism Organization, said, "With various Korean performances entering China, starting with non-verbal performances and musicals, we hope that this meeting will increase demand for visits to Korea to see the original works."
