"Rotten Smell Led to Finding a Pile of Bones... Self-Employed Person Expresses Human Aversion"

"Fish are laid under the chicken bones"
"It breeds misanthropy"

A self-employed business owner has shared a story about suffering from a foul odor caused by piles of chicken bones and fish discarded around the restaurant's outdoor air conditioning unit, sparking public outrage.

On the 26th, a post titled "I really developed misanthropy" was uploaded on the self-employed online community 'Apeunikka Sajangida' (Because It Hurts, I'm a Boss). The author, Mr. A, said, "I arrived at the store and suddenly smelled a bad odor from somewhere," adding, "There was no apparent reason for the smell, so I wondered what it was." He continued, "I closed the store around 2 a.m. the previous night and left, and there was no smell at that time," and "It wasn’t a sewer smell but something rotten."

Unable to find the source of the stench, Mr. A cleaned every corner of the kitchen and the dining area with his husband before leaving. However, the rotten smell still lingered the next day. He said, "Since there was no apparent reason for the rotten smell, I wondered if it was coming from outside the store, so I went out to the backyard," and "There were many chicken bones on the narrow path where the outdoor air conditioning unit is located behind the kitchen. That’s where the rotten smell was overwhelming," sharing photos of the scene. The photos showed darkened chicken bones filling the narrow path.

Mr. A lamented, "Even after filling a 50-liter garbage bag tightly with chicken bones, there were still too many to fit." He added, "Hundreds of flies were flying around, so I sprayed an entire can of insect repellent, which drove the flies away, but what remained were thousands of maggots and chicken bones," and "After removing the chicken bones, there were soft, melted fish scattered on the ground underneath," expressing his frustration.

He claimed, "Right next to the wall is a villa parking lot, and while people have thrown coffee cups and trash there before, this is extreme," and "Based on the circumstances, it’s almost certain that one of the villa residents is responsible." He continued, "I cursed while cleaning. It naturally made me hate humanity," and "Since I had to run the business, I cleaned everything up and used bleach, air fresheners, deodorants, and scented candles, pouring and spraying them all before finishing and opening for weekend business."

However, Mr. A said, "I wanted to report illegal dumping and business obstruction to the police, but they said they can’t take a report unless the culprit is identified. The police said they would warn the villa representative if I could tell them who it was," but "When I asked the villa residents if there was a representative, they said there wasn’t one." He added, "The police advised installing CCTV and putting up warning signs, so I immediately installed CCTV and posted a notice saying, 'If caught dumping trash, immediate legal action will be taken without leniency.'" According to the Waste Management Act, illegal dumping of general or household waste can result in a fine of up to 1 million KRW.

Netizens who read the story responded with comments such as, "The person who dumped the chicken bones will be punished someday," "What kind of act is that at someone else’s business?" "It seems like a malicious attack," "The owner must have had a hard time cleaning," "Just looking at the photos makes me angry and creeped out," and "It’s scary beyond annoyance and anger." In particular, when one netizen said, "It doesn’t seem like it was dumped just for a day or two," Mr. A replied, "When I checked the backyard a week ago, there was nothing," and "It seems like it was dumped all at once in a big pile."
