Perpetrator Male "Assaulted Because Younger Sibling Didn't Listen"
Kidnapping, Assault, Threats... "Beaten Over 200 Times"
2 Arrested, 3 Under Pursuit
The police are tracking down men in their 20s who kidnapped, assaulted, and threatened a younger acquaintance, claiming he did not listen to them well.
The Mungyeong Police Station in Gyeongbuk announced on the 27th that they arrested a man in his 20s, identified as A, on charges of assault and confinement for beating and kidnapping a junior living in the same neighborhood, and booked another man, B, without detention. The police are currently pursuing three other men in their 20s who committed the crime together with them.
A total of five men, including A, are accused of assaulting C (19), a younger acquaintance, at a bar around 2:30 a.m. on the 24th. C had gone to a friend's bar to eat but was caught by them and forced to drink alcohol. He was reportedly assaulted dozens of times inside the bar and on a nearby main road. He was also threatened with, "We will find and kill your mother and father."
They forcibly put C into a van and continued to assault him. A citizen who witnessed C being kidnapped into the vehicle reported it, and realizing the police were pursuing them, they released C after about two hours. The five then fled by taxi and other means; two were caught, but the remaining three have not yet been apprehended. During police questioning, A reportedly stated that he assaulted C because "C usually did not listen well."
Meanwhile, according to News1 on the 27th, C posted a message titled "Please save me. I am scared to death" on an online community around 11:13 p.m. the previous day. In the post, he said, "I thought I was going to die from the beatings, so I took an opportunity to escape, but I was kidnapped again by gangsters who chased me in a van and was continuously beaten inside the vehicle. They burned various parts of my body, including my face, with cigarettes and lighters. I think I was hit more than 200 times over several hours."
He added, "Seven months ago, a 22-year-old junior in this gang of 24-year-olds said he could no longer live the gang life and planned to run away. I was beaten like this because I helped him escape by giving him a ride in the car." C claimed that these men are gangsters known locally as 'Golbopa.' However, the police stated that the five men, including A, are not gangsters. CCTV footage capturing the kidnapping and assault of C has been secured, and the police have issued warrants and travel bans for the three fugitives and are pursuing them. Once they are caught, the police plan to investigate the exact circumstances of the incident thoroughly.
