Lee Joong-geun, chairman of Booyoung Group, was elected as the 19th president of the Korea Senior Citizens Association on the 27th.
Chairman Lee was elected with 187 votes (out of a total of 273 voters) in the election for the 19th president of the Korea Senior Citizens Association held at CaterTle (formerly Geogujang) in Mapo-gu, Seoul. The current president, Kim Ho-il, received 66 votes.
Chairman Lee expressed his gratitude, saying, “I deeply thank the presidents of the Korea Senior Citizens Association Federation, branch presidents, and senior members for giving me the opportunity to serve and dedicate myself on behalf of 10 million seniors.” He added, “I will do my best to ensure that the Senior Citizens Association contributes to national and social development as a group of seniors who are dignified, respected, and considerate of future generations, and to establish it as a respected elder organization leading the aging society.”
Earlier this year, Chairman Lee attracted attention through various social contribution activities, including providing childbirth incentives of 100 million won per employee’s child, building dormitories for elementary, middle, and high schools nationwide, donating 2,000 buses to Cambodia and Laos, supporting military units, and operating daycare centers without rent.
