The Yongin Western Police Station in Gyeonggi Province announced on the 26th that Lee was sent to the prosecution without detention on the 23rd on charges of spreading false information under the Public Official Election Act.

Earlier, 16 city and provincial councilors from the People Power Party in the Yongin area filed a complaint with the prosecution on March 26, stating that "the statements made by candidate Lee, who ran for Yongin Jeong, on a YouTube channel were different from the facts."

On March 15, prior to this, Lee appeared on the YouTube program 'Kim Eo-jun's Das Boeida' and said, "All the People Power Party candidates are first-term lawmakers. None of them have any local ties. Absolutely none."

In response, the complainants argued that the People Power Party candidates running in the general election were either born in Yongin or had lived there for several years until recently, so the claim that they had no local ties was false.

On the other hand, Lee countered, "Generally, in elections, 'local ties' mean the place where one was born and raised," adding, "While one can claim 'local ties' to places where they lived briefly or had some connection, interpretations and standards vary accordingly."
