Kakao Hosts 'Brunch Book Publishing Project'... 5 Million KRW Prize and Marketing Support for Grand Prize Winner

Kakao's content CIC announced on the 26th that its content publishing platform Brunch Story will hold the "12th Brunch Book Publishing Project."

Through this event, a total of 10 grand prize winners will be selected and given the opportunity to publish their books, along with a prize of 5 million KRW each. The Brunch Book Publishing Project is an annual book publishing contest held since 2015 to support writers dreaming of publication.

Winning the grand prize includes publication, prize money, and various marketing opportunities such as special exhibitions. Up to the last event, the number of submissions reached about 53,000, with support funds totaling approximately 560 million KRW.

The application period for the 12th Brunch Book Publishing Project is until October 27, and any Brunch author can apply. Participation is possible with a Brunch Book that has published at least 10 pieces of writing. Authors can publish their works through "Create Brunch Book" on Brunch Story and apply via the application page.

Kakao will select a total of 10 grand prize winners together with 10 partner publishers. Notably, this edition has newly established a "Novel Category" to highlight Brunch Books of various genres. In the Novel Category, a total of 3 works will be selected, one each from Jaum & Moeum, Changbi, and Clayhouse, while in the General Category, 7 works will be selected, one each from Gimmyoungsa, Dal, Day One, Siwon Books, RH Korea, Iyagi Jangsu, and Hanbit Media.

The grand prize winners will be announced on December 18, and a total prize of 50 million KRW, 5 million KRW per winner, will be awarded. Additionally, various marketing supports will be provided upon book publication in August next year.

A representative from Brunch Story said, "We established the Novel Category to allow diverse themes and genres of Brunch Books to be born and discovered," adding, "We will continue various attempts and support so that the Brunch Book Publishing Project can be a debut stage for those dreaming of becoming published authors."
