Volkswagen Supplies V2X Module Security Certification
"Strengthening Security Across All Areas of the Automotive Electronics Business"
LG Electronics has become the world's first company to obtain an international certification for the security stability of Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) communication modules. This recognizes the excellence of its V2X security performance. The internationally certified V2X module will be installed in internal combustion engines of the German automobile brand Volkswagen. Beyond V2X module security certification, LG Electronics plans to strengthen security across all areas of its automotive electronics business.

On the 26th, LG Electronics announced that Volkswagen's internal combustion engine V2X module has become the world's first to acquire the Common Criteria (CC) certification for security stability evaluation. The CC certification is an international standard for evaluating product security, recognized by 31 countries including South Korea.
LG Electronics' V2X module is installed in the communication module (VW Transceiver Module) of Volkswagen's internal combustion engine dedicated platform (MQB). LG Electronics also plans to obtain CC certification for the V2X module to be installed on Volkswagen's electric vehicle platform (MEB) within this year.
Through this certification, LG Electronics was recognized for capabilities including ▲'Message Protection' that safely transmits and receives external messages in vehicles ▲'Privacy Protection' that prevents external tracking of specific vehicles ▲'Access Control' that allows access only to users authorized with vehicle control rights. An LG Electronics official stated, "We expect to gain a competitive advantage in future V2X module procurement competitions."
LG Electronics is strengthening security across all areas of its automotive electronics business. The VS Business Division, responsible for LG Electronics' automotive electronics business, obtained the Cybersecurity Management System (CSMS) certification from the internationally accredited testing and certification body TUV Rheinland in February last year. As software-defined vehicles (SDV) emerge as a core area of future mobility, CSMS has become an essential element that automakers must have. In 2021, LG Electronics acquired management rights of the Israeli automotive cybersecurity company Cybellum.
Eun Seok-hyun, Vice President and Head of LG Electronics' VS Business Division, said, "Through international certification in the V2X field, a core technology of future mobility, we have been recognized for our top-level security technology. We will continue to lead the global automotive parts industry and provide differentiated value to our automotive customers."
