At Night in Iksan, Jeonbuk, Wearing a Mask and Pulling a Kickboard
Parked on the Road in Front of the Office, Then Mocked CCTV
Retaliation Over Parking Issue... Fined for Driving Without a License
In the middle of the night, men wearing masks pulled electric scooters and then made obscene gestures at a closed-circuit television (CCTV) installed in front of an office, sparking controversy. According to JTBC's 'Sageon Banjang' on the 25th, informant A, who runs an office in Iksan, Jeonbuk, revealed the video, saying the incident occurred at 11:47 p.m. on the 22nd.
In the video, two men wearing white and dark pink masks respectively parked their scooters on the road in front of A's office, found the CCTV screen, stopped, and waved their hands in greeting. Then, they suddenly made obscene gestures toward the CCTV, mocked A by making heart shapes or thumbs-up signs, and one of the men even appeared to kick the camera.
It turned out that these men were high school students. Three days earlier, A had told the students to park their scooters elsewhere because the corner was dangerous. A pointed out that the students' actions were retaliatory. Later, when A happened to find the students near the office and questioned them, "Are you the ones wearing masks?" the students apologized, saying, "We're sorry."
A told JTBC, "When I met with the students and asked about their actions, they all admitted to it and apologized." Moreover, it is known that the students operated electric scooters without a driver's license, so fines are expected to be imposed. A said, "I don't know if this behavior can be talked about as a heroic story now, but over time, it will surely be embarrassing," and added, "I hope such behavior will not happen again."
According to the Road Traffic Act, electric scooters can only be operated by those aged 16 or older who hold a Class 2 motorized vehicle driver's license or higher. Driving without a license or under the influence results in a fine of 100,000 won, carrying more than one person is fined 40,000 won, and not wearing a helmet incurs a fine of 20,000 won.
