A participant in a triathlon in Yeoju, Gyeonggi Province, died during the swimming event, prompting the police to launch an investigation.
According to the police on the 25th, a man in his 30s identified as Mr. A, who participated in the triathlon held on Dangnamri Island in Daesin-myeon, Yeoju, went missing around 7:50 a.m. after starting the swimming event at 6:50 a.m.
He was found dead around 10:25 a.m. in the Namhan River near Dangnamri Island by a rescue team dispatched after a report was made.
The police are investigating the exact cause of Mr. A's death and whether the event organizers complied with safety measures.
