"Vote for Our Village Project!"... Seongdong-gu Holds Residents' Assemblies in 17 Neighborhoods

Sequential events by neighborhood until September 6, with various activities including performances and flea markets
Selection of next year's projects from a total of 104 village agendas directly proposed by residents through online and offline voting

Seongdong-gu, Seoul (Mayor Jeong Wono) will hold the "2024 Resident Autonomy Association Resident General Assembly," where various village issues are discussed and decided, starting from the 28th.

The Resident General Assembly is a public forum where residents directly propose and discover village agendas, and decide on projects to be implemented next year through resident voting, organized by each neighborhood's Resident Autonomy Association. Anyone living in the area, including residents, businesses, and organizations located in the neighborhood, can participate.

This year's assembly will be held sequentially in 17 neighborhoods from Geumho 2·3-ga-dong starting, until September 6, covering a total of 104 village agendas across 10 themes such as health, culture, education, living environment, and climate response.

Key agendas include "Happy Sharing Meal," which distributes seasonal food to vulnerable groups; "Let's Play Together! Earth~," which considers and practices ways to protect the environment in the era of global warming; and events promoting community harmony and culture and leisure at village landmarks such as Jangmi Park, Maebongsan, and Songjeong-dong Ttukbang-gil, including the "Daehyeonsan Rose Garden Concert" and the "Songjeong Cherry Blossom Festival."

The district office will encourage maximum resident participation and enhance the public nature and representativeness of village agendas by conducting advance voting through on-site voting, online voting, and visiting on-site voting.

On the day of the assembly, while the public forum for selecting village agendas takes place, various events such as performances by Resident Autonomy Association clubs and flea markets will be held for residents and nearby office workers to enjoy together.

At last year's Resident General Assembly, a total of 93 projects were selected and are currently being implemented without delay, including "Safe Eungbongi (Eungbong-dong)" for improving living, environment, and transportation, and "Let's Create Together! Memory Space (Geumho 2·3-ga-dong)," which transforms a dementia-safe park into a fragrant garden to realize green welfare for residents.

Jeong Wono, Mayor of Seongdong-gu, said, "The results of residents working together to solve daily inconveniences and respond to climate change have led to a better Seongdong. We will continue to support the smooth implementation of projects essential to residents so that everyone can experience positive changes."
