Ulleung Cruise, which operates the New Shidao Pearl (19,988 tons, capacity of 1,200 passengers) traveling between Ulleung in North Gyeongsang Province and Pohang, has touched many by creating precious memories for children from the Sunrin Aeyukwon orphanage in Pohang.
Children from Sunrin Orphanage are taking a group photo in front of Ulleung Cruise before boarding for Ulleungdo.
According to an Asia Economy report on the 24th, Ulleung Cruise supported an experiential learning trip to Dokdo, the island of the nation, and Ulleungdo for 100 people, including children and caregivers from Sunrin Aeyukwon in Pohang, from the 20th to the 22nd.
Sunrin Aeyukwon is a social welfare foundation established in 1952 based on Christian values, focusing on the happiness of children through unwavering love and care, providing comprehensive welfare services such as protection and nurturing of children under the age of 18.
The children participating in the experiential learning spent their first night enjoying food and a nighttime laser show at the onboard street food market of the New Shidao Pearl before heading to Ulleungdo. Upon arrival, they visited tourist attractions such as Nari Basin, Dokdo Museum, Bongrae Waterfall, and the Taeha Hyangmok Tourist Monorail, experienced local farming, and enjoyed swimming at a seawater pool set against the backdrop of Namyang Beach, known as the "Grand Canyon of Korea."
On the second evening, they created special memories with an outdoor barbecue party, recreation, and prize draws at La Perouse Resort, the largest accommodation facility in Ulleungdo.
Cho Hyundeok, CEO of Ulleung Cruise, said, "It is truly an honor for us to support cruise experiences and Ulleungdo trips for these young dreamers," adding, "Ulleung Cruise will always cheer them on to grow up bright and confident, even in circumstances they did not choose."
This event was made even more meaningful and enriching thanks to voluntary support from local companies in the Ulleung area, the Pohang branch of the Korea Shipping Association, GS Retail, Bounce Planning, and others.
