Additional 444㎡ Unauthorized Occupied Land Near Dapsimni Neighborhood Park to Be Developed as Park
November Decision to Expand Urban Planning Facilities... Detailed Design to Proceed by September Next Year
Dongdaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Ilpyeong Lee) announced on the 23rd that it plans to expand Dapsimni Neighborhood Park (San 2-1, Dapsimni-dong) by converting nearby land illegally occupied by unauthorized buildings into park space.
The intention is to develop the land, which has been a source of controversy due to unauthorized occupation of national and public land, into a space for residents.
Dongdaemun-gu is promoting the creation of a total of 444㎡ of park space, including five parcels (324㎡) such as 3-234 Dapsimni-dong, which are not currently park land, along with the park land at 2-302 Dapsimni-dong occupied by illegal buildings.
The site is adjacent to the entrance of the parking lot of the Dongdaemun-gu Sports Center located within Dapsimni Neighborhood Park.
In August this year, Dongdaemun-gu commissioned related services to decide on the expansion of urban planning facilities. Once procedures for securing the budget, such as investment review, are completed around October, the decision to expand urban planning facilities is expected to be pursued around November.
The basic and detailed designs for the park creation will proceed until September next year, and the district expects compensation procedures to begin from October 2025, after the announcement of the detailed plan approval.
Ilpyeong Lee, Mayor of Dongdaemun-gu, stated, “The development of the illegally occupied land near Dapsimni Park is an important project to improve quality of life and enhance the local environment.” He added, “We will continue to strive to ensure residents can live in a better environment.”
