Vice Mayor Cho Myungrae Visits Evaluation Site, Emphasizes Project Explanation and Necessity

Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam is making every effort to be selected for the national and regional strategic projects implemented by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport as a follow-up measure to the relaxation of greenbelt regulations.

Changwon Special City Makes All-Out Efforts for Selection in National and Regional Strategic Projects for Greenbelt Areas Changwon Special City, Fully Committed to Selection as National and Regional Strategic Project in Greenbelt Area.

The national and regional strategic projects allow for development in areas with environmental grades 1 and 2, which were previously impossible to release for public development projects, for projects that have passed the State Council's final approval. The guidelines were revised in May. An evaluation report meeting was held in July, and after an on-site evaluation on August 23, the final selection by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport is scheduled for December following the State Council's review.

The city applied in June with seven strategic projects for the national and regional strategic projects in the greenbelt: ▲Establishment of Changwon Defense and Nuclear Power Convergence National Industrial Complex ▲Establishment of Defense and Nuclear Power National Industrial Complex Logistics Support Complex ▲Establishment of Jinhae New Port Hinterland Complex ▲Establishment of Southeast Region Urban High-Tech Logistics Complex ▲Establishment of Changwon Urban Convergence Technology (R&D) Complex ▲Establishment of Urban Life Mixed-Use Complex ▲Establishment of Smart Senior Medical Specialized Mixed-Use Complex.

On this day, Deputy Mayor Cho Myungrae attended the on-site strategic project evaluation in person, explaining the city's advantages, the necessity and justification of the projects, and strongly emphasized that they must be included in the national and regional strategic projects.

Deputy Mayor Cho said, "If selected as a national and regional strategic project, not only will it be easier and more efficient to utilize the greenbelt, but it will also be recognized as an exception to the total release quota, which is groundbreaking for balanced regional development and very important for securing the foundation of local industries such as nuclear power, defense, Jinhae New Port, and advanced logistics."
