CEO Lee Jae-myung to Meet Economic Leaders Next Month
Ruling and Opposition Parties Likely to Hear Businesses' Difficulties
Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, and Lee Jae-myung, leader of the Democratic Party of Korea, are consecutively meeting with heads of economic organizations. This is interpreted as an effort to explore ways to boost corporate vitality for economic growth and to listen to the difficulties faced by the business community.
On the 22nd, Han Dong-hoon, leader of the People Power Party, met Kim Ki-moon, president of the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business, who visited the party headquarters. At this meeting, Han stated, "We will do our best to resolve the difficulties of small and medium enterprises to bridge the gap in our society."
At the meeting, President Kim expressed gratitude to Han for the implementation of the delivery price linkage system and the improvement of the business succession system under the Yoon Seok-yeol administration. He also requested relaxation regarding the expansion of the E-7 (specific activity) visa.
The People Power Party introduced that "a meeting with the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry is scheduled for the 5th of next month."
Leader Lee is also planning meetings with heads of economic organizations next month.
According to the Democratic Party, Lee plans to meet with Choi Tae-won, chairman of the Korea Chamber of Commerce and Industry (and chairman of SK Group), and other chamber chairpersons on the 5th of next month. On the 11th, he will also meet with Kim Ki-moon, president of the Korea Federation of Small and Medium Business, among others. A Democratic Party official explained, "Meetings with the business community are being arranged." It is known that these series of meetings were proposed by the economic organizations.
Meetings with economic organizations are expected to be an extension of Lee’s advocated 'Meoksanism.' During the meetings with the business community, explanations regarding various economic reform issues being discussed within the Democratic Party are expected. Additionally, Lee is likely to exchange opinions on tasks such as easing the financial investment income tax and comprehensive real estate tax, which he has promoted along with pragmatism and centrist expansion, as well as on projects like the energy highway.
