Seodaemun-gu, Seoul (Mayor Lee Seongheon) recently launched the "Visiting Repair Experts" service as part of its senior job program.
This project involves seniors visiting 11 key locations such as community centers, welfare institutions, and the district office plaza to provide free knife sharpening and umbrella repairs, offering jobs for the elderly and convenience for residents.
On the 19th and 20th at the district office plaza, 375 knives and scissors were sharpened, and 31 umbrellas were repaired, receiving great response from residents. Encouraged by this, the district plans to expand the service locations to apartment complexes and other areas. The visiting schedule can be checked on the district office website.
Residents can have up to two items repaired per person, including knives and umbrellas, but high-end products may not be eligible for repair. Apartment complex representatives wishing to designate a visiting repair location can apply through the Seodaemun Senior Club, the dedicated agency for senior jobs.
