Mayor Oh Se-hoon Signs Business Agreement with Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon
Discussing Urban Design, Tourism Revitalization, and Startup Promotion
Special Lecture for Busan City Officials Planned After Agreement Signing
Seoul and Busan will sign a business agreement to strengthen urban competitiveness, including urban design and tourism revitalization. In particular, they have decided to promote economic cooperation by jointly attracting investment using corporations.
On the afternoon of the 23rd, Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon will visit Busan Metropolitan City Hall and sign the "Seoul-Busan Friendly Exchange Enhancement Business Agreement" with Busan Mayor Park Hyung-joon, based on these contents.
Seoul and Busan have signed agreements twice in 2018 and 2022, and have been enhancing urban competitiveness through mutual cooperation in various fields, including human exchange. The Seoul Institute and Busan Institute also share urban development strategies by conducting joint research and seminars.
This agreement focuses on ▲activating exchanges of urban design policies ▲promoting workation and expanding tourism exchanges ▲cooperating in startup fostering ▲activating data-driven administration ▲joint cooperation to revitalize garden culture.
After signing the agreement, Seoul will share key policies and business know-how of Design Seoul with Busan and seek cooperation plans for citizen-centered urban design development and advancement.
Additionally, they plan to promote mutual exchanges between local tourism industries and support participation in international travel marts hosted by both local governments. They will also expand connections such as linking Seoul-based SMEs with Busan workations to promote not only regional tourism but also economic revitalization. Seoul and Busan hold international travel marts annually to revitalize the tourism industry. The travel mart is a platform for tourism industry exchange, including B2B2C exhibitions, business meetings and networking between major overseas travel agencies and domestic tourism companies, and sharing the latest tourism trends.
Youth policies will also be promoted together. To support excellent youth-centered startups and entrepreneurship, mutual membership spaces will be provided within the startup support facilities of the two cities. In particular, they plan to establish a close cooperation system, such as jointly operating investment attraction programs by utilizing the networks each company possesses.
Sharing data analysis cases, techniques, and platform operation methods, as well as jointly discovering region-customized data and statistics to utilize in city administration, will also be part of the cooperation. Furthermore, they plan to join forces in creating garden cities by promoting and sharing infrastructure for representative local events and festivals such as garden expos held in both cities.
Meanwhile, after signing the agreement, Mayor Oh will give a special lecture to Busan city officials. At this event, he will share Seoul’s core policies and administrative mindset under the theme of "Together · Charming Special City Seoul," which is the slogan and future vision of Seoul’s 8th term of elected government.
