Yeongdeok County in North Gyeongsang Province conducted the 2024 Ulchi Exercise anti-terrorism response drill jointly with the 2nd Battalion of the 5312th Unit, the 16th Coastal Surveillance Mobile Battalion, Yeongdeok Police Station, and Yeongdeok Fire Station at 2 p.m. on the 21st in the parking lot of Yeongdeok County Office.
Yeongdeok County Establishes Emergency Preparedness through Joint Anti-Terrorism Drill with Military, Police, and Fire Department.
Attended by around 300 personnel from related agencies, this drill was based on a hypothetical scenario of a "terrorist attack on Yeongdeok County Office by unmanned aerial vehicles (drones) and enemy special forces." The exercise proceeded in stages: occurrence of a terrorist situation, evacuation of civil visitors, initial response by the self-defense fire brigade, document removal, staff evacuation, military and police counter-terrorism response, fire suppression and rescue by firefighters, and facility restoration.
Officials from the military, police, and fire agencies, including Yeongdeok County, participated seriously as if in a real situation from the initial response stage, focusing on enhancing each agency's capability to protect the lives and safety of residents during wartime and establishing a robust emergency preparedness posture.
County Governor Kim Gwangyeol commented, "Through this Ulchi Exercise joint anti-terrorism drill, we once again reviewed our emergency preparedness to protect the lives and safety of residents and created an opportunity to improve the performance of each agency." He added, "We will build a close cooperation system with the military, police, fire department, and other related agencies to make Yeongdeok County even stronger in times of crisis."
