Best Integrated Control Center... First in the Province to Win Four Times
Advanced Upgrade of Intelligent Screening Control System
The Gumi City Integrated Control Center in North Gyeongsang Province is responsible for the safety of its citizens, with 33 monitoring personnel conducting real-time surveillance of a total of 4,483 CCTV cameras 24 hours a day.
Through this systematic monitoring, as of August this year, 49 crimes have been apprehended in real time (including 5 cases of theft, 2 cases of assault, 32 cases of drunk driving, and 10 other cases), and the safety of Gumi citizens has been protected through 365 crime prevention reports.
Every year, the city has been promoting the installation of more than 200 intelligent CCTVs in crime-prone areas, and this year, it has secured a budget of 1.2 billion KRW to expand its CCTV infrastructure.
Based on these efforts, Gumi City achieved the remarkable feat of being selected as the Best Integrated Control Center in the second half of 2023, and became the first in the province to win the award four times (2018, 2020, 2022).
In addition, Gumi City plans to further enhance the functions of its currently operating intelligent selective monitoring system. In addition to existing features such as human and vehicle identification, and loitering and intrusion detection, new detection functions will be added to enable immediate response to complex situations such as violence, collapse, and fire, thereby further strengthening citizen safety.
Intelligent selective monitoring is a system that analyzes objects in CCTV footage to support monitoring personnel in directly observing relevant footage. With the advancement of video analysis technology, it overcomes the limitations of visual monitoring, increases monitoring efficiency, and contributes by providing footage necessary for criminal investigations.
Bang Jumun, Director of the Administration and Safety Bureau, stated, "The role of the Integrated Control Center goes beyond simply monitoring crime; it focuses on ensuring that local residents can enjoy a safe and comfortable life," and added, "We will continue to do our best to strengthen community safety and contribute to crime prevention through continuous system upgrades."
