"Please move your car" request leads to axe being taken out of the trunk
A story has been shared about a man who was threatened with an axe after asking the owner of a car blocking a one-way street to move their vehicle.
On the 21st, JTBC's 'Sageon Banjang' introduced the story of truck owner Mr. A, who witnessed a sports utility vehicle (SUV) blocking a one-way street in Jung-gu, Seoul, on the 14th while passing through the area.
While making a right turn on the one-way street, Mr. A encountered the vehicle blocking the road and politely asked the owner, "Excuse me, could you please move it a little?"
In response, the owner cursed at Mr. A and suddenly pulled an axe out of the car trunk.
Fortunately, Mr. A, who was stronger than the owner, subdued him and took the axe away, avoiding serious injury.
Later, the owner’s family told Mr. A, "(The owner) is a sick person," and asked, "Please understand, young man." When Mr. A reported the incident to the police and a crowd gathered, they even tried to snatch the axe from him.
According to Mr. A, they claimed to the police that "the man (Mr. A) swung the axe at us," asserting mutual assault. Regarding why the axe was in the vehicle, they stated it was "carried to help a friend cut wood."
Mr. A said, "The police investigation did not recognize mutual assault, and the offending driver was indicted without detention on charges of special assault."
Netizens who read the story reacted with comments such as "This is attempted murder," "If they don’t punish this severely, everyone will just carry axes around," "Is it okay for a sick person to swing an axe wildly?" "Not a juvenile offender but a juvenile patient, I guess," "If you’re sick, please stay home," "The axe case is without detention? Please tell me the criteria for detention," and "Now it’s a world where you can’t even ask someone to move their car because it’s scary."
