Gyeonggi Province will hold a forum related to the launch of a climate satellite. Earlier, Governor Kim Dong-yeon of Gyeonggi Province announced that one of the key tasks in the second half of his term would be to promote the 'launch of a climate satellite.'
On the 22nd, Gyeonggi Province announced that it will hold the 'New Space Era, Climate Satellite Forum' on the 27th at the Dasan Hall of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Office, featuring lectures and expert panel discussions under the theme 'The Present and Future Given by Artificial Satellites.'

Gyeonggi Province plans to jointly launch the climate satellite with the private sector, starting a public contest for operators next year, with the goal of launching the climate satellite in 2026.
Gyeonggi Province intends to establish specific directions and future plans for the climate crisis satellite based on the outcomes of this forum.
A Gyeonggi Province official stated, "We also plan to promote climate policies based on objective and scientific data, such as initiating the RE100 platform that can analyze optimal locations and potential amounts of renewable energy for buildings and idle sites, and monitor the overall carbon absorption status of the province using aerial LiDAR and hyperspectral imaging."
