77 Tenants Have Not Been Returned Jeonse Deposits of 11.9 Billion KRW Since 2017

A YouTuber with 100,000 subscribers was arrested on suspicion of a 10 billion won-level jeonse fraud and handed over to the prosecution.

On the 21st, the Suwon Southern Police Station in Gyeonggi announced that they recently sent 'King Arthur' Moon (a male in his 40s), a game and stock YouTuber, to the Suwon District Prosecutors' Office on charges including fraud.

Moon is accused of buying five villas and one apartment with about 130 units in the Suwon and Hwaseong areas since 2017, renting them out under jeonse contracts, and failing to return 11.9 billion won in jeonse deposits to 77 tenants from 2021 to last year.

According to the investigation, he used the jeonse deposits received immediately after purchasing the buildings to cover the purchase price.

A police official explained, "He repeatedly bought villas and apartments by paying the purchase price with the deposits. However, as interest rates rose, it became difficult to cover the interest, and new jeonse tenants did not appear easily, so he is believed to have embezzled the deposits without returning them."
