[2024 Global Wine and Food Trip]
HiteJinro Introduces Wines from Anjou, Loire Valley, France
Including Domaine des Ardhier, Durth?, and Mathey Philippe
Asia Economy will hold the '2024 Global Wine & Food Trip' at Sebitseom Floating Island in Seocho-gu, Seoul, for two days starting from the 23rd. Marking its third year, the Global Wine & Food Trip will feature major domestic wine importers and food companies, providing an opportunity to taste various regional wines and enjoy food pairings.
HiteJinro will showcase wines from Domaine des Hardi?res in the Anjou region of France's Loire Valley at this event. The vineyards of Domaine des Hardi?res, overlooking the Layon River, benefit from both morning fog and afternoon sunlight. The well-drained vineyards are planted on slopes, and the schist-rich soil allows the grapes to achieve optimal ripeness.
Domaine des Hardi?res operates a 23-hectare vineyard in northern Layon, with grapevines averaging about 30 years old, cultivated using organic farming methods that respect the soil and terroir. Approximately 60% of the vineyard is planted with Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, while about 25% is planted with the white variety Chenin Blanc.
The featured wine, 'Anjou Blanc Les Petits Gars,' is made from 100% Chenin Blanc. It displays a yellow color reminiscent of canaries with shimmering golden hues. The nose primarily reveals fresh citrus fruit aromas, complemented by ripe peach, apricot, and quince characters, representing the typical profile of Chenin Blanc. The warm and fragrant sensation from the schist soil, combined with the oak flavors developed during barrel aging, adds complexity. On the palate, softness and ripe fruit are perfectly balanced with freshness. Alongside the fresh fruit, a pleasant cedar aroma derived from fermentation and aging in oak is also perceptible.
Wines from the trusted Bordeaux producer Dourthe can also be tasted. The tasting wine 'Dourthe No.1 Ros?' is made from 100% Cabernet Franc and exhibits a pale pink salmon hue. It offers crunchy fresh fruit flavors, with strawberry and grapefruit being particularly notable. On the palate, it is fresh, well-structured, and has good acidity, creating perfect balance. It best expresses the charming ros? wine that can be made from Cabernet Franc. It pairs well with various appetizers such as gazpacho, caprese salad, eggplant caviar dishes, and white meat dishes served grilled or chilled.
