Selling under 1,000 KRW per 100g at three major marts
The three major supermarket chains are launching a discount event for West Sea fresh blue crabs.
Through the 'Seafood Grand Sale Discount' in collaboration with the Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries, the three supermarkets will sell fresh blue crabs at the following prices when paying with event cards: ▲Lotte Mart at 893 KRW (per 100g) ▲Emart at 950 KRW ▲Homeplus at 990 KRW.
Lotte Mart announced that from the 22nd to the 28th, it will sell freshly caught blue crabs for the first time this year at the lowest prices in the past five years. Lotte Mart secured supply by pre-contracting with about 30 crab fishing vessels from the largest crab-producing areas, Geokpo Port in Buan, Jeonbuk, and Sinjindo Port in Taean, Chungnam. They also contracted with 14 packing facilities that sort and package the caught crabs.
Emart will also sell autumn fresh blue crabs caught in the West Sea, including Sinjindo in Taean, at special prices from the 23rd to the 29th. Customers can purchase 4 to 6 crabs for 9,500 KRW per kilogram. Buying 3 kilograms is enough for a meal for a family of four. Emart plans to sell the freshly caught crabs packaged with sawdust and ice packs or packed in ice, depending on regional customer demand.
Homeplus will sell 'Cold Water Stunning Blue Crabs' during the last super sale of this summer, 'Encore! Homeplun,' from the 22nd to the 28th. The crabs freshly caught in the West Sea are stunned in cold water below 5 degrees Celsius and then packaged in sawdust, allowing customers to purchase them fresh at stores nationwide.
Blue crabs are a low-calorie, high-protein food rich in protein, amino acids, minerals such as calcium, iron, and zinc, as well as taurine. They are known to lower blood pressure, prevent diabetes, protect eyesight, and promote liver and cardiovascular health.
