Shinsegae L&B Introduces Representative Wines of Burgundy, France
Louis Jadot, Robert Mondavi, Catena Zapata, and More
Asia Economy will hold the '2024 Global Wine & Food Trip' at Sebitseom Floating Island in Seocho-gu, Seoul, for two days starting from the 23rd. Marking its third year, the Global Wine & Food Trip will feature major domestic wine importers and food companies, providing an opportunity to taste various regional wines and enjoy food pairings.
Shinsegae L&B will showcase wines from 'Maison Louis Jadot,' a producer representing Burgundy, France. Founded in 1859 by Louis Henri Denis Jadot, Louis Jadot produces a diverse range of wines across Burgundy, from southern Beaujolais through C?te de Beaune and C?te de Nuits to Chablis.
Located in the city of Beaune, the Louis Jadot headquarters is considered one of the oldest wineries in Burgundy and boasts the most modern facilities in the region. While its long tradition and history are proud legacies, Louis Jadot's management philosophy is never to rest on its laurels.
The 'Louis Jadot Beaune Greves 1er Cru Le Clos Blanc' featured at this event is a wine made from Chardonnay grapes grown in Beaune, the largest village-level appellation in C?te de Beaune. Beaune borders Savigny to the north and Pommard to the south, and although it has no Grand Cru vineyards, it includes 36 Premier Cru sites. It produces red wine on 362 hectares (ha) and white wine on 45 ha.
'Greves' means sand or small pebbles in French, describing the soil composition of this vineyard. The wine reveals rich aromas of ripe fruit and a full-bodied taste with notes of almond, toasty oak, and earthy scents. It has a refreshing acidity and characteristics similar to Chassagne-Montrachet. Aged in oak barrels for 14 to 18 months before bottling, it is recommended to be consumed after at least 7 more years of aging. It pairs well with fish dishes with white sauce, various shellfish, and fresh cheeses.
Also presented is the 'Louis Jadot Coteaux Bourguignons Ros?,' made from the Gamay grape variety. Coteaux Bourguignons is a regional appellation established in January 2011, replacing the former 'Bourgogne Grand Ordinaire.' It allows winemakers relatively free rein to produce wines without restrictions on production area or grape blending ratios.
This ros? wine, produced through a very short maceration process, is aged only briefly in stainless steel tanks. It features a beautiful pink color and a fresh, crisp taste, enjoyable for 2 to 5 years. It pairs especially well with salmon steak or tartare steak.
In addition to Louis Jadot, Shinsegae L&B will present a variety of wines including 'Robert Mondavi Reserve To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon,' Catena Zapata, Undurraga, Two Hands, and Federico Paternina.
