[2024 Global Wine and Food Trip]
Hyundai Department Store Wine Importer Vino.H
Introducing Wines from La La Land, Bodegas Alse?o, Yelland, and More
Asia Economy will host the '2024 Global Wine & Food Trip' over two days starting from the 23rd at the Floating Island on Sebitseom in Seocho-gu, Seoul. Marking its third year, the Global Wine & Food Trip will feature major domestic wine importers and food companies, providing an opportunity to taste a variety of regional wines and enjoy food pairings.
Vino.H, a wine import and distribution specialist under Hyundai Department Store Group, will showcase Australian 'La La Land' wines at this event. La La Land, launched in 2013 before the movie of the same name, is a creative collection inspired by 'Alice in Wonderland,' designed for adults seeking new adventures and challenges. It brings a fresh breeze to the wine market with its imaginative concept. Certified vegan-friendly, it presents the natural flavors of the fruit with minimal intervention.
The flagship product 'La La Land Pinot Gris,' produced in the Riverina wine region of New South Wales, Australia, offers crisp notes of pear, ripe green apple, peach, lime, and citrus fruits, followed by subtle white floral aromas. On the palate, it impresses with fresh acidity that stimulates the appetite, a slightly oily smooth texture, and a clean herbal finish. Riverina is a large-scale wine production area producing one-tenth of Australia's wine, characterized by relatively low rainfall but well-managed irrigation, with white wines like Pinot Gris accounting for 70% of production.
Also featured is Spain's 'Sera Sauvignon Blanc' from Bodegas Alceno. Bodegas Alceno is a family-run winery playing a central role in the wine history of the Jumilla region in Spain. With a proud 150-year history since 1870, it was the first winery to start selling wine in the Jumilla area.
The 2019 vintage of Sera Sauvignon Blanc available for tasting at the event exhibits a clear straw color with complex aromas of green apple, lemon, lime, gooseberry, melon, and pleasant grassy notes. It offers excellent fresh juice and balanced acidity with a smooth texture that envelops the mouth. While excellent on its own, it pairs wonderfully with salads and seafood for a refreshing combination.
Additionally, attendees can enjoy 'Zancara Sangria' from Bodegas Bastida in the Rioja region of Spain. Established in 1870 in the Rioja Alavesa area, Bodegas Bastida cultivates key Rioja varieties such as Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo, and Graciano, producing both single-varietal wines and unique blends. Combining traditional methods with modern technology, they create wines with rich natural fruit flavors and a well-balanced soft tannin structure.
The red blend Zancara Sangria offers fresh fruit juice, balanced acidity, and a smooth texture, making it a light and easy-to-enjoy wine. It pairs well with a variety of flavorful Spanish dishes such as tapas, cheese, charcuterie, and seafood.
