This Weekend in Eunpyeong-gu: 'Summer Street Party'
Craft Beer Festival to Be Held in Dongdaemun-gu on the 30th-31st of This Month

“Local merchants are asking for the festival to be held every month. Prices are rising and the consumption slump continues to make things difficult, but at least the local festival plays a role in giving us some breathing room.”
The local festivals, which had taken a break due to the heat and summer vacations, are stretching out again this weekend. Most districts in Seoul have large representative festivals, but recently, festivals have become a regular part of life, held monthly.
The biggest reason is revitalizing the local economy. In Eunpyeong-gu, after holding a festival last year, it was reported that “sales at nearby stores increased by more than 30%.” Additionally, local promotion, community strengthening, attracting tourists, and enhancing the local brand are also important reasons.
Eunpyeong-gu will hold the “5th Summer Street Party” event at Yeonsinnae Shopping District on the 24th and 25th. The event will take place on Yeonsinnae Rodeo Street, the most developed commercial area in the district. It features a cosplay concept with comic, game, and character themes, offering sights and entertainment. On the first day of the party, a cosplay contest will be held, and the district mayor will personally operate the Eunpyeong Joomak (traditional tavern).
At the “Hot Summer! Street Performance,” performances by singer Lee Seung-yeon from Miss Trot, magician Ariel, and choreographer Aiki will be held. This event is hosted and organized by the Yeonsinnae Shopping District Merchants Association and sponsored by Eunpyeong-gu. Mayor Kim Mi-kyung said, “I hope many people visit Yeonsinnae Shopping District and that this becomes an opportunity for the merchants to regain their smiles.”
On the 24th, Eunpyeong-gu will hold the finals of the “Youth e-Sports Competition” at Lotte Mall Eunpyeong Branch, and from the 31st of this month to the 2nd of next month, the “2nd Seoul Eunpyeong Youth Film Festival (SESFF)” will be held at Lotte Cinema Eunpyeong Branch to attract visitors.
In Dongdaemun-gu, the “Cheongnyangni General Market Moonlight Outing” festival will be held from noon to 10 p.m. on the 24th. This festival is also led by the Cheongnyangni General Market Merchants Association, with a focus on attracting younger crowds.
On the last weekend of August, the 30th and 31st, Dongdaemun-gu will hold the “2024 Dongdaemun-gu Beer Festival, Brew Brew Beer Factory” at Jungnangcheon 1st Sports Park. The festival will feature 12 famous domestic craft beer breweries including Hwasu Brewery and Weizenhouse. Along with jazz and DJ performances, a musical concert by The March Company, composed of active musical actors from Sejong Center for the Performing Arts, will also be held.
