Job Camp Operation on the 29th of This Month
Including Air Conditioner Installation and Maintenance Technicians
Yongsan-gu, Seoul (District Mayor Park Hee-young) announced on the 21st that it will operate a job camp for the middle-aged and recruit trainees for education and training that can be linked to employment using the district's job fund.
The middle-aged refers to the 50s and 60s generation who have retired from their main jobs and are preparing for old age. The proportion of middle-aged people in the total population of South Korea has already exceeded 30%, and it is expected to exceed 32% by 2026.
Based on the demand for recruitment from tourism and service companies in the region, Yongsan-gu will hold a job camp on the 29th of this month in collaboration with the Seoul Middle-aged Tomorrow Center of the Korea Labor & Society Development Foundation, a specialized employment service agency for middle-aged and older adults. At the camp held at Yongsan Art Hall, ▲ customized job training in the service sector ▲ job briefing sessions ▲ on-site interviews will be conducted.
Companies such as Seobu TND Co., Ltd., McDonald's Korea Ltd., Winwing Co., Ltd., and Angels Staff Co., Ltd. will participate and conduct on-site interviews for recruitment in positions such as ▲ hotel F&B (food and beverage service) ▲ room maid ▲ guides and sales staff.
Those aged 40 or older who wish to find employment can apply by visiting the Job Plus Center on the first floor of Yongsan-gu Office by the 23rd or by downloading the application form from the ‘Events/Education’ section on the district website and submitting it via email.
On the 9th and 10th of next month, training courses for pedestrian safety assistants and signalmen will be operated. The training consists of basic safety and health education for the construction industry (4 hours) and basic education for pedestrian safety assistants (8 hours) in cooperation with the Korea Construction Safety Assistant Cooperative.
Due to redevelopment and various construction projects in the region, the demand for jobs such as pedestrian safety assistants and signalmen at construction sites is expected to increase. Residents who complete the training course will be actively linked to priority placement in public construction projects. The application method is the same.
Additionally, as part of this year’s public-private cooperation job contest project, a training course for air conditioner installation and maintenance technicians will be operated jointly with Korea Polytechnic University Seoul Jeongsu Campus. The period is from October 15 to November 20 this year.
At this course, participants can learn skills such as refrigeration and air conditioning, air conditioner installation and maintenance, and welding. After completion, employment will be linked through companies such as Samsung Electro-Mechanics Logistics Co., Ltd. (second-tier partner) and Myeongil Co., Ltd.
This course was also selected for the contest project last year, producing 15 graduates and successfully placing 10 in jobs. Applications can be made on the Industry-Academic Cooperation Foundation website of Korea Polytechnic University Seoul Jeongsu Campus by October 8 this year.
District Mayor Park Hee-young said, “This will be very helpful for the middle-aged who are preparing for reemployment or old age,” and added, “I hope they find a second career that suits them through learning, even if it is something they have never tried before.”
