Ministry of Education Launches Ulsan-Style Early Childhood Education and Care Integration Pilot Project
The Ulsan Metropolitan Office of Education (Superintendent Cheon Changsoo) announced on the 20th that it will pilot six "Young Child Schools" from September this year to February next year as part of the Ministry of Education's integrated early childhood education and care pilot project.
Two private kindergartens and four daycare centers have been selected as Young Child Schools.
The Young Child School is a pilot project by the Ministry of Education that seeks a new educational model combining the strengths of kindergartens and daycare centers, providing education and care services tailored to the characteristics of the Ulsan region, and strengthening public responsibility.
Previously, the Ulsan Office of Education publicly recruited pilot schools for the Young Child School project from local kindergartens and daycare centers between May 25 and June 5 to ensure the successful implementation of the integrated early childhood education and care system.
Moving forward, the selected kindergartens and daycare centers will carry out operational tasks to realize the model envisioned by the Ulsan-style integrated system.
To support this, the Ulsan Office of Education will provide assistance for 12-hour operations including 8 hours of basic curriculum and 4 hours of care, securing morning and evening care spaces and staff, deploying additional personnel, operating high-quality curricula, and enhancing teacher professionalism. Each institution will receive a budget of around 100 million KRW to ensure stable operations.
A representative from the Ulsan Office of Education stated, "We will continue to provide training to enhance the professionalism of all kindergarten and daycare teachers in the Ulsan region and will continue to develop various Ulsan-style integrated education and care models."
