Jeonbuk National University Hospital (Director Yoo Hee-cheol) announced on the 20th that it received the highest grade, Grade 1, in the 10th Acute Stroke Adequacy Evaluation conducted by the Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA).
According to Jeonbuk National University Hospital, the Acute Stroke Adequacy Evaluation is conducted to continuously manage the quality of stroke medical services, aiming to reduce mortality and disability rates and to encourage medical institutions to actively improve the quality of medical services. Jeonbuk National University Hospital has received the highest Grade 1 rating consecutively for all 10 evaluations from the 1st to the 10th.
The 10th evaluation targeted patients who were admitted to the emergency room within 7 days after symptom onset with acute stroke as the primary diagnosis (I60~I63) from October 2022 to March 2023.
The evaluation criteria consisted of 11 indicators in total, including ▲whether the staff and facilities (Stroke Unit) are established ▲rate of early rehabilitation assessment ▲rate of functional outcome scale assessment at discharge ▲incidence of pneumonia during hospitalization ▲30-day in-hospital mortality rate (hemorrhagic/ischemic) ▲ambulance usage rate ▲median time from symptom onset to emergency room arrival, among others.
Jeonbuk National University Hospital received high scores in all evaluation indicators, achieving a total score of 99.99 points compared to the national average of 88.13 points. This recognized the hospital as having the highest quality of treatment for stroke and cerebrovascular diseases nationwide.
Director Yoo Hee-cheol said, "Receiving Grade 1 for 10 consecutive times in the Acute Stroke Adequacy Evaluation is the result of our efforts to secure specialized personnel and expand facilities to provide high-quality and prompt treatment to patients visiting the emergency room," adding, "We will do our best to ensure emergency patients receive optimal medical services."
