A story has been shared about a foreign wife who suddenly disappeared and demanded a divorce after obtaining citizenship.

According to the story introduced on JTBC's 'Case Manager' on the 20th, a man in his 30s went on a trip after breaking up with a long-time girlfriend eight years ago. There, he met a woman from Central Asia. Fluent in Korean, she introduced herself as a K-pop fan. Feeling mutual affection, the two began dating seriously, and the man overcame his parents' opposition and married the woman after two years of dating.

The couple went on their honeymoon to the wife's home country. The man helped his brother-in-law find a job in Korea at his earnest request to work there and allowed him to stay at their newlywed home until he could establish a living base in Korea. The couple also had a healthy daughter who resembled the wife. Eventually, the wife obtained citizenship. They lived happily without even a single common marital quarrel.

Then one day, the wife, who had gone to work, did not return home. When there was no contact past midnight, the man reported it to the police. At that time, he received a text message from his wife saying, "Please divorce me. You raise the daughter," and a few days later, a divorce petition arrived at their home.

Shocked, the man, following his mother's words, "Your granddaughter doesn't look like you. Get a test," requested genetic testing at two places. Both results showed no biological relation. He could not guess when or how his wife had an affair.

The man waited all day in front of his brother-in-law's house, desperate for any clue. He learned from his brother-in-law that the wife had previously engaged in a marriage of convenience with a Korean man, was an undocumented immigrant at the time, and had run away before registering the marriage.

The wife maintained her position that the daughter was indeed the man's biological child. She is also known to be enjoying benefits such as multicultural support funds and has hired a Korean lawyer to proceed with the divorce lawsuit. Lawyers commented, calling it a "regrettable case," and said, "In such cases, it is not easy to legally prove a fraudulent marriage."
