Silla University Hosts Global Training Program to Enhance Online Teaching Skills
Teachers from the Republic of Mauritius in the Indian Ocean visited Busan.
Shilla University (President Heo Namsik) announced on the 20th that it had successfully completed an invitational training program to enhance online teaching competencies for secondary school teachers from Mauritius.
Shilla University, in collaboration with the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA), hosted the "2024 Shilla University-KOICA Global Training - Mauritius Secondary School Teachers Online Teaching Competency Enhancement" invitational program. The program provided Mauritian secondary school teachers with a variety of lectures, including Taekwondo, as well as field trips and cultural exploration activities, all aimed at strengthening their online teaching skills.

During this event, experts in domestic online education and current teachers led experience-based lectures on topics such as: △ Directions for Innovation in Future Education and the Use of EdTech △ Trends in Korean Digital Literacy Education and AIDT △ Trends in Online Education and Strengthening Teaching Competencies △ Strategies for Designing Online Classes to Increase Student Engagement △ Case Studies of Leading Schools in Korea.
Field trips to various educational sites in Busan, including the Korea Science Academy of KAIST, the Busan Mathematics Culture Center, the English Library, the National Science Museum, and the Aloysius Base, as well as cultural heritage tours to sites such as Bulguksa Temple and Geumgwanchong in Gyeongju, and Taekwondo demonstration classes, provided Mauritian teachers with firsthand experiences of Korea's educational environment and culture.
Lee Eunhwa, Dean of the Graduate School of Education at Shilla University and the person in charge of this training, stated, "Mauritian teachers have gained a deep understanding of the importance of online education and the potential of utilizing EdTech," adding, "In particular, the opportunity to directly experience Korea's digital education model and leading school cases allowed them to witness innovative educational methods firsthand."
Shilla University plans to continue exporting Korea's excellent online education systems and methods to developing countries such as Mauritius through ongoing cooperation with KOICA, contributing to the advancement of education in these regions.
