Chinese Netizens Suspect Child Trafficking
A man attempting to abduct a child who was with his mother in broad daylight at a shopping mall has been revealed, causing shock.
Recently, on Chinese social networking services (SNS), CCTV footage showing a man attempting to kidnap a child at a shopping mall in Zhuzhou City, Hunan Province, on the 12th was posted.
In the video, a man wearing white suddenly picks up a boy who was with his mother. When the mother immediately tries to stop the man, he quickly leaves the scene. The video shows the mother and child staring at the spot where the man left, looking bewildered.
The same man attempted another child abduction on the same day.
The released CCTV footage shows the man trying to carry away a girl who was standing alone, but when the girl's grandmother and a security guard nearby rushed over, he fled quickly.
After the video was released, local netizens were terrified. They expressed anxiety with comments such as "This is definitely child trafficking," "Now they are trying to take children right in front of our eyes," "It's scary to go out with children," "What if he had run away with the child?" and "Investigate actively."
Meanwhile, in China, fear of illegal child trafficking is spreading as child trafficking organizations have recently been caught, and crimes such as forging birth certificates, which can be exploited for trafficking or illegal adoption, are rampant. Although the Chinese government is cracking down on trafficking, the problem has not been eradicated.
